Job Description



Trainer

KenCrest is seeking a full-time Trainer for the Stratford office, responsible for the provision of training to new and veteran employees in direct support and supervisory positions at various locations, including DDS funded program sites.

  • Conduct various trainings for staff in classroom and worksite settings.
  • DDS trainings such as Abuse and Neglect, CPR/FA, Driver and Fire Safety, as well as other DDS required trainings.
  • Participate in the review, evaluation and modification of written materials for new and existing training programs.
  • Formulate teaching outlines and determine instructional methods.
  • Select and/or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multi-media visual aids, and computer tutorials.
  • Utilize competency based assessment practices to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Participate in the development of online training curriculums.
  • Preparation and set up of the physical environment for training sessions.
  • Maintain and audit training records

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field, or 10 years experience in recruitment/management
  • 1-3 years experience in staff training
  • Prior experience in the field of developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Additional certifications or education relating to training preferred.
  • Clear criminal record and Valid Driver’s License
  • Software skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills and at ease moderating large groups.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to deliver quality training programs.
  • Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of general learning principles, adult learning principles and their application.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Creative ability, including some visual graphics design.
