Direct Support Professional - Coworker

This unique position provides care, supervision, habilitation and support to individuals in accordance with state and Agency guidelines.  Ensures the health, welfare and safety of all-individuals being supported.  Promotes and provides unique opportunities for each individual to develop and grow towards greater independence.  This intentional community model guides young adults with different abilities into the adult world and assists them in reaching their full potential both on the farm and in their surrounding community.  Opportunites to live on site alongside the individuals receiving support as well as fellow co-workers are available on an as needed basis as space becomes available.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist individuals, when needed, with household management, including shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry and all other household chores.

  • Assist, guide, support and perform as necessary, with activities of daily living.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of health for the individuals including monitoring for signs and symptoms of illness, emotional or behavioral concerns. Administer medications accurately and in accordance with medical and/or behavioral protocols.

  • Transport individuals to appointments, jobs, day programs and other community outings

  • Complete forms and reports as directed by the support professionals.This includes ensuring medical visit forms, medical data and behavioral data forms are correctly maintained.

  • Assist individuals in making informed choices, trying new experiences, developing relationships and empowering them to make their own decisions and maintaining their rights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Clear criminal record background check in accordance with state requirements

  • Ability to pass all required trainings, including CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration

  • Ability to understand and follow spoken and written instructions in English.

Full - time

Week #1 - Monday - Friday (3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) 

Week #2-  Monday - Friday (3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.)
